Bredebro Varmeværk's investment in stability

Bredebro Varmeværk has managed to keep heating prices stable through their investment in a new high-voltage electric boiler, a significant achievement in a time when many other heating plants have raised their prices. This strategic investment allows them to leverage cheap electricity from wind energy, reducing operating costs and providing financial savings for both the heating plant and its consumers.

History and development of Bredebro Varmeværk

Founded by dedicated businesspeople, Bredebro Varmeværk is now a consumer-owned cooperative with 581 members. Over the years, the heating plant has continuously developed and modernized its facilities to offer affordable and sustainable heating to its customers. The company is known for its economical and environmentally friendly production, including the use of wood chips in their biomass boilers.

The accumulator tank is used as a buffer to store heat produced when energy prices are low. This is a green and economically beneficial solution.

Powerful gas engine at Bredebro Varmeværk

Bredebro Varmeværk uses a powerful Caterpillar 3612 V-engine for their gas-fired engine. This engine produces both electricity and heat, allowing for optimal energy utilization. The electricity generated is sold on the open electricity market, while the heat warms the district heating water via heat exchangers.

Parat Boiler Keeps Heating Prices Down

Bredebro Varmeværk has managed to transform their production to be more profitable and environmentally friendly with the installation of a Parat high-voltage electric boiler. This boiler allows them to utilize cheap electricity from wind energy to produce hot water, which is stored and used later when electricity prices rise. This results in significant savings and the opportunity to profit from wind energy overproduction.
