Saga Shipping's new vessel with advanced steering system
AS SCAN is pleased to announce the successful delivery of a steering system to the supply vessel Skawlink, Newbuilding no. 154. The vessel was built by Hvide Sande Shipyard and was acquired by the offshore supply service company Saga Shipping with homeport in Skagen, Denmark.

The vessel is equipped with a high-performance 550kW Volvo engine capable of reaching top speeds of 11 knots. This underscores the vessel's performance capabilities and reflects the advanced engineering that has gone into its design.
Dual steering gear system on Skawlink
One of the distinguishing features of Skawlink is its advanced steering gear, a AS SCAN MT1000 with an integrated rudder carrier bearing. The steering gear has a max rudder angle of 2x45 degrees, and a design torque at 35 degrees at 14 kNm. This innovative design ensures optimal responsiveness and control under a wide range of maritime conditions.

The steering system further includes:
- A single pump unit, equipped with a 2.2kW electro-hydraulic pump
- Manual wheel emergency pump
- A RPMS22 wheelhouse remote panel allowing full control of the rudder control box

- Rudder indicator with dimmer
