Steam electrode boiler

The PARAT IEH is an electric steam boiler for industrial applications. It uses electrode technology to generate steam and can replace or supplement a fuel-fired steam boiler, helping businesses electrify their steam production.

Industrial process steam without combustion

The electrode steam boiler generates heat directly in the water through electrical resistance between the electrodes. Steam production requires no combustion, eliminating local combustion-related CO₂ and NOx emissions from the boiler.

This allows you to reduce fossil fuel use in your steam production. The overall carbon footprint depends, among other factors, on the electricity used to power the boiler.

Capacity to match your steam requirements

The PARAT IEH is available in steam configurations with power ratings up to 60 MW. Selecting the right industrial steam boiler depends on your required steam output, operating pressure and available electrical supply.

The boiler can serve as:

• A process steam boiler supplying steam for industrial production.

• A supplementary boiler allowing electricity to be used alongside existing energy sources.

• A backup boiler during outages affecting fuel-fired boilers or their fuel supply.

Its compact design can make it suitable for installation in an existing boiler house. Space requirements and installation arrangements must be assessed for the selected boiler size and site conditions.

Automatic power and steam pressure control

An internal circulation system delivers water to the electrodes, where steam is generated. A control valve adjusts the water level in the upper chamber to regulate the boiler’s power output.

Steam collects in the upper part of the pressure vessel and leaves through the main steam valve. If steam pressure rises above the setpoint, the control system automatically reduces power.

Continuous water conductivity monitoring

Water conductivity is essential to achieving the required output from an electrode boiler. The control system therefore monitors conductivity continuously during operation.

If conductivity exceeds the setpoint, automatic blowdown is activated. Water treatment and water quality monitoring are important parts of boiler operation.
