Split winches

Winch with electric drive mounted on offshore vessel

Winch solution to any challenge

Robust and resistant in the harshest environments. AS Scan fishing winches combine the advantages of traditional technologies with new designs and innovative tech, resulting in systems that can be used efficiently regardless of the weather conditions.

We produce top modern split winches with rated pulls up to 35 tons.

There is a choice of drives; either the well proven high pressure hydraulic system known for its excellent dynamic response, or the new permanent electric motor, which with its high torque direct drive offers a similar response level to HP hydraulic for those who prefer an electrical solution. The wire guide can be set in all angels over and under the drum with either spindle or piston and can be integrated with our fishing software to synchronize your winches.

Wire guide system

The wire guide can be adjusted at any angle both above- or below the drum and with either spindle or piston. In addition, the wire guide can be integrated with our winch control system to synchronize your winches.

Winch with 2-speed

The winches can be delivered as a 1-step solution or the more flexible 2-step solution, where you can choose between 1-speed or 2-speed.

Steel wire and synthetic rope

Synthetic rope, such as Dyneema and Spectra, puts significantly higher pressure on the winch side shields than wire. Therefore, it is important to clarify whether the winch is designed for steel wire or synthetic rope. AS SCAN winches are designed so strong that they can be used for both steel wire and synthetic rope.

If you are considering the choice of wire/rope for you winch, we have made a guide summarizing the difference between steel wire and Dyneema / Spectra.

Considerations when buying a winch

Our winches are specially designed to suit the customer's needs. It is therefore a good thing if you have thought about your requirements for the winch. We use this information to decide:

  • Type- and size of motor / gearbox
  • Flange diameter (the outside diameter of the reel flange)
  • Core diameter (the diameter of the core drum)
  • Inside traverse (the distance from inside to inside of reel flanges)

You can use a drum capacity calculator to help you estimate how much rope can be spooled onto a reel of a given size.

When requesting an offer for AS SCAN winches you must please fill in the required fields in our winch - request for information form and send the request to info@as-scan.com. You will be contacted within 24 hours.
