Split winches

High-Performance hydraulic winches and electric winches for aquaculture and fishing applications

At AS Scan, we specialize in designing and manufacturing heavy-duty split winches engineered to excel in the harshest marine environments. With rated pulls of up to 35 tons, our winches provide the power and durability needed for demanding operations, whether in fishing or other marine industries.

Winch solutions tailored to your needs

Our split winches combine the strength of traditional technologies with modern innovations, ensuring reliable performance regardless of weather conditions. Customers can choose between two cutting-edge drive systems:

  • High-pressure hydraulic drive: Known for its excellent dynamic response, this system is ideal for applications requiring quick adjustments and high pulling power.
  • Electric motor: Featuring high-torque direct-drive efficiency, our electric motor offers performance comparable to hydraulic systems, perfect for those preferring an eco-friendly and low-maintenance option.

Each winch can be customized with an adjustable wire guide system, designed to function at any angle above or below the drum, using either spindle or piston configurations. Additionally, AS SCAN control system can be integrated with both our electric and hydraulic winches.

Robust brake systems for safety and control

AS Scan winches can be equipped with either band brake or disc brake systems, ensuring safe and controlled operation in any situation.

  • Band brake system: This traditional braking method is reliable, cost-effective, and easy to maintain. Band brakes offer excellent braking force and are a great choice for winches operating in standard conditions.
  • Disc brake system: For operations that require enhanced braking precision and responsiveness, our disc brake system provides superior stopping power and performance under higher loads. Disc brakes are particularly suited for applications where fine control is crucial.

Both braking systems are designed for durability and high performance, giving you the flexibility to choose the solution that best meets your operational and safety needs.

Flexible speed options: 1-speed or 2-speed winches

Our winches are available as a 1-speed or the more versatile 2-speed solution, allowing you to choose the setup that best fits your operational needs. The 2-speed option provides flexibility by enabling the operator to switch between different speeds depending on the task at hand, enhancing both performance and efficiency.

Advanced wire guide system for precision control

Scan winches feature a flexible wire guide system that adjusts at any angle—above or below the drum—and works with either spindle or piston options. This system ensures smooth and precise control, which is crucial when operating in variable conditions. The wire guide can also be fully integrated into our winch control system, allowing seamless synchronization across multiple winches.

For even greater control over the lay of the wire on the drum, our winches can be fitted with either:

  • Electric spooling gear: This system offers optimum control and precision when winding the wire onto the drum, ensuring that the wire is spooled evenly and reducing wear over time.
  • Mechanical spooling gear: A robust and cost-effective alternative, mechanical spooling ensures reliable performance while maintaining good control of the wire lay.

Both options are designed to enhance operational efficiency and extend the service life of your winch and wire.

Built to handle both steel wire and synthetic rope

Whether you use steel wire or synthetic rope such as Dyneema or Spectra, our split winches are built to handle the load. Synthetic ropes exert significantly higher pressure on the winch side shields compared to wire, but our winches are constructed to manage both with ease. We’ve even created a comprehensive wire and rope guide to help you choose the right material for your winch, based on your specific requirements.

Easy maintenance and long service life

Our winches are designed with ease of maintenance in mind, ensuring that downtime is minimized. Both the hydraulic and electric systems are built for longevity, featuring high-quality components that withstand heavy-duty use over time. Routine maintenance is straightforward, and we offer service packages to help ensure your winches continue performing at their best.

Our team of service engineers is available for on-site inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs, ensuring the reliability of your winches across their entire lifespan.

Customization options to meet your specific needs

At AS Scan, we understand that no two operations are alike. That’s why we offer customizable winch solutions tailored to your specific needs. Whether you require modifications to the motor size, flange diameter, drum capacity, split drum winch or braking system, our engineers work closely with you to design a solution that fits perfectly with your operational demands.

Additionally, we offer a range of accessory options, including remote controls, specialized rope spooling systems, and integrated monitoring systems, allowing you to maximize efficiency and control.

You can use a drum capacity calculator to help you estimate how much rope can be spooled onto a reel of a given size.

Sustainability and energy efficiency

As sustainability becomes increasingly important, we are committed to offering winch solutions that minimize environmental impact. Our electric motor-driven winches are designed to be energy efficient, reducing your operation’s carbon footprint compared to traditional hydraulic systems. These eco-friendly options are ideal for companies looking to reduce fuel consumption and emissions without sacrificing performance.

We are also constantly innovating to make our products more sustainable, from improving material recyclability to optimizing energy use during winch operation.
